§ 201. Residential carts required.
A.
Every occupant of a residential service unit shall only use solid waste cart(s) provided by the authority of sufficient number and size to hold the residential solid waste that accumulates at the residential service unit between regular collection days. Every occupant of a residential service unit shall only use recycling cart(s) provided by the authority to hold program recyclable materials. This requirement does not prohibit temporary containers larger than two (2) cubic yards in size utilized for cleanouts, construction and special projects in accordance with the Director's rules and regulations. Carts shall be maintained in good condition by the customer in control of the residential service unit allowing for normal wear and tear.
B.
Residential solid waste carts and recycling carts shall be kept secure with lids closed or covers in place when stored or placed for collection to prevent access to their contents by insects, rodents, and other animals, to minimize fire hazard, and to prevent accumulation of water and scattering of litter. When carts deteriorate so as to become non-leakproof or otherwise hazardous to persons or property, they shall be replaced. The owner or person in control of a residential service unit may request a replacement cart by contacting the City.
C.
Carts placed for collection shall not exceed the following weights when loaded:
32-gallon cart—80 pounds.
48-gallon cart—120 pounds.
64-gallon cart—160 pounds.
96-gallon Cart—240 pounds.
