§ 103. Duties of the Director of Public Works.

  • The Director of Public Works shall perform such duties as may be required of him by the laws of the state of Oklahoma and the Charter and Revised Ordinances of the City of Tulsa, and he shall perform such other duties in the various departments of the City government as may be assigned to him. It shall be the duty of the Director to inform himself concerning all provisions of the Charter and Revised Ordinances of the City of Tulsa directly affecting the operation and duties of the Public Works Department; the repair and improvement of all streets, alleys and public grounds; the maintenance and operation of public buildings and grounds; the building, electrical, plumbing, boiler, mechanical and other codes and regulations governing private construction and operation; the street lighting system; the design and construction of storm sewers; the design, construction, extension, improvement, management, maintenance and operation of the waterworks and sewerage systems; the management of solid waste; and the management of stormwater drainage, as specified in the Revised Ordinances of the City of Tulsa.

    It shall be the duty of the Director of Public Works to establish all street, sidewalk and alley grades; to prepare the plans, estimates and specifications for all public improvements and to supervise their construction, except where such duties are otherwise designated by Charter or Ordinance; to inspect the installation of all sidewalks, driveways and other improvements upon public streets and alleys and property; to supervise the management of stormwater drainage, solid waste and the waterworks and sewerage systems of the City as specified in the Revised Ordinances of the City of Tulsa; to make such investigations, studies and reports as may be authorized; to give technical advice and assistance to all departments of the City government; and to make records in his office available for information to the public.
