§ 1900. Obtaining or attempting to obtain property by trick or deception, false statement or pretenses, confidence game.
It shall be an offense for any person with the intent to cheat or defraud to obtain or attempt to obtain from any person any money, property or valuable thing, of the value of less than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) by means or use of any trick or deception; false or fraudulent representation, statement or pretense; or by any other means, instrument or device, commonly called the "confidence game;" or by means or use of any false or bogus check; or by any other written, printed or engraved instrument or spurious coin. Any person violating any of the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), excluding costs, fees and assessments, and/or imprisonment in the City Jail for a period of not more than six (6) months.
