§ 800. Accident - duty to stop.

    The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting in damage to a vehicle which is driven or attended by any person shall immediately stop his vehicle at the scene of such accident or as close thereto as possible, return to and remain at the scene of the accident until he has given his correct name, address, telephone number, current registered owner information including license plate number, vehicle identification number and complete vehicle insurance information to such other person or an investigating police officer. The driver shall, upon request, exhibit his driver's license to the driver or occupant of or persons attending any vehicle collided with and shall render to any person injured in such accident reasonable assistance. Every stop shall be made without obstructing traffic more than is necessary.

    B.

    Any person failing to stop or to comply with any of the requirements of this section shall be guilty of an offense and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) excluding costs and assessments and/or by imprisonment in jail for not more than ninety (90) days.
