§ 801. Striking unattended vehicle or property.

    The driver of any vehicle which collides with any vehicle or other object which is unattended shall immediately stop, and then and there, either locate and notify the owner or custodian of such vehicle or other object of the name, address, telephone number of the driver and current registered owner information including license plate number, vehicle identification number and complete vehicle insurance information of the vehicle striking the unattended vehicle or object. In the event the driver of the vehicle is unable to locate the owner or custodian of the vehicle or object, the driver shall notify the police, in writing, of such an accident and circumstances within twenty-four (24) hours after the accident.

    B.

    Any person failing to stop or to comply with any of the requirements of this section shall be guilty of an offense and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine of not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), excluding costs, fees and assessments, or by imprisonment in the City jail for not more than thirty (30) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
