§ 308. Budget policy.

A.

No less than one percent (1%) of the total cost of any new buildings or major revisions to existing buildings to be constructed or erected on property owned by the City, utilizing public funds, shall be budgeted and expended for works of art as defined in Subsection 302.A., above. Such works of art shall be reviewed and approved by the Arts Commission as provided herein.

B.

Consideration shall be given to the location, quality and character of works of art to be utilized in connection with new buildings or major revisions to existing buildings used for the proposed juvenile detention facility at 315 South Gilcrease Museum Road or the adult detention facility at 1727 Charles Page Boulevard, in such a way as to lessen the negative impact such facilities may have to the neighborhoods in which they are located. Nothing herein, however, shall require that said work of art be located at the facility.
