§ 1300. Membership.

There is hereby created an Animal Welfare Commission (the "Commission"), which shall consist of five (5) members appointed by the Mayor, subject to the confirmation of the City Council. The Mayor shall designate one (1) initial appointee as Chair of the Commission, subject to City Council confirmation. Subsequent to the initial term described in Section 1300(A), below, the Commission shall elect a Chair from among its members.

A.

Terms. Initial Mayoral appointments shall serve until December 31,2020. Subsequently, one (1) of such appointments shall be for a term of one (1) year, two (2) for terms of two (2) years and two (2) for terms of three (3) years. Thereafter, Mayoral appointments shall be for terms of three (3) years; provided, however, that all members shall hold office until their successors are appointed and qualified.

B.

Removal from office. The appointing authority may remove members of the Commission who have three (3) or more consecutive absences.
