All members of the Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to approval
of the Council. The Mayor shall appoint a member from each of the fields of medicine,
law, education, the media, corporations, homemaking and retired workers. The remaining
members shall be appointed at large. The members of the Commission shall elect a chairperson
and vice-chairperson from their membership and may elect such other officers and committees
as they may, from time to time, deem necessary for the proper performance of their
duties. The chairperson shall appoint standing committees to deal with the concerns
of education, families, day care and community resources.
