§ 302. Vehicle assignment, acquisition, and penalties.

  • A.

    The City shall assign vehicles based on the rationale of operating efficiency with an emphasis on responding to emergencies.

    B.

    Assignment of a City vehicle is neither a privilege nor a right of any City employee, and is subject to immediate revocation and disciplinary action upon failure to comply with this Chapter, policies and procedures of the City, or executive orders issued by the Mayor.

    C.

    The Mayor may enact additional policies governing the use of City vehicles as long as those policies do not conflict with this ordinance.

    D.

    Vehicles purchased by the City of Tulsa shall:

    1.

    Follow and comply with Title 12, Chapter 1, Energy Policy, Tulsa Revised Ordinances;

    2.

    Be procured at the lowest and best cost possible for the vehicle's particular use;

    3.

    Only be purchased after serious consideration is given to the total cost of the vehicle, including purchase, fuel, and expected maintenance in determining which vehicle to purchase; and

    4.

    Only be purchased after serious consideration is given to purchasing City vehicles in large lots in order to minimize vehicle cost. This could entail combining purchases from various City departments or other governmental entities.
