§ 402. Officers, quorum, duties and responsibilities.

  • During the regularly scheduled meeting in January of each year, the Local Board shall choose a chairman and secretary from its membership who shall serve for terms of one (1) year or until their successors are elected. In the event any chairman or secretary ceases to be a member of the Local Board, the Local Board shall elect from its members, a chairman or secretary to serve the unexpired term of the officer whose membership on the Local Board has terminated.

    The Local Board shall hold monthly meetings at a regular time and place and at any time otherwise necessary, upon the call of its chairman. A majority of all the members of the Local Board shall constitute a quorum and shall have the power to transact business.

    It shall be the responsibility of the Local Board to review applications for the following:

    1.

    Membership in the Oklahoma Police Pension and Retirement System through the City of Tulsa Local Police Pension and Retirement Board;

    2.

    Refund of accumulated contributions to members terminating employment from the Tulsa Police Department;

    3.

    Retirement benefits; and

    4.

    Disability benefits and examinations to determine continuation of disability benefits.

    The Local Board shall recommend approval, disapproval or modification of each application described above and the secretary of the Local Board shall forward such recommendation to the Board of Trustees of the Oklahoma Police Pension and Retirement System within ten (10) days following the Local Board's decision. Consideration by the Local Board of all applications shall be strictly pursuant to the provisions of 11 O.S.1991, §§ 50-101, et seq. , and any applicable rules and regulations promulgated by the State Board of Trustees.
